Back In Black
For this project, the brief was pretty straightforward. The clients love black and white and are drawn to minimalist interiors. But they were very clear about one thing. They didn’t want the house to feel cold or impersonal.
So the goal was to keep the palette simple while making the spaces feel warm and comfortable to live in. Black became the anchor throughout the home, with layers of soft whites balancing things out and keeping everything feeling light.
Because the color palette is so restrained, texture does a lot of the heavy lifting. Matte finishes, natural wood, soft fabrics, and stone with subtle movement add depth and keep the spaces from feeling flat. Instead of filling rooms with a lot of things, we focused on choosing pieces that felt intentional and well proportioned.
In the end, the house feels calm and grounded. It’s minimal, but still warm. Clean, but still personal. Proof that black and white doesn’t have to feel stark when the materials and details are doing their job.
